Dining at Lake Tillery is small-town by nature. A handful of places sit near the water, while most restaurants are along the main streets of Norwood and Mount Gilead or in downtown Albemarle, where the widest choice of kitchens is concentrated. Plan meals around the side of the lake you are on — crossing at the NC 24/27 bridge adds real time.

Expect Carolina staples done well: barbecue, fried fish, Southern breakfasts, Mexican kitchens, and bakeries that sell out by early afternoon. Location

Five Points Public House and Albemarle

Five Points Public House is in or near Albemarle, in Stanly County. The county seat and the region's retail, medical, and dining center. Distance from the water: about 20–25 minutes west.
